Review: The Black Keys – “Chulahoma”

Everyone’s favorite Akron, Ohio-based duo offers six songs from the Junior Kimbrough catalog, treating listeners to Mississippi Delta blues numbers that sound as instinctive as they do carefully executed.

Rather than updating the earthy refrains with contemporary faux-blues signifiers, the group keeps the arrangements uncluttered and almost spare. The results can be mesmerizing.

Favorite Track: “Keep Your Hands Off Her”
